ABSTRACT
What if you could prepare nurses conveniently in their own homes for a profession that is in high demand and focused on relational engagement, health promotion, critical inquiry, and nurse-client partnerships? Our workshop will engage participants in our journey into the world of blended learning to launch a dynamic, unique second degree nursing program.
“Students are required to purchase an iPad and specific Apps to augment their online learning. This enhances multisensory learning, aesthetics, interactivity, creativity, and experiential learning”
The Kwantlen Post-Baccalaureate Nursing Program uses e-portfolios, professional and academic mentorship, capstone residencies, and nurtures creativity and connectedness through iPads and other novel technologies. The development of a comprehensive online curriculum augmented with face-to-face residencies, professional practice experiences in traditional health agencies and non-traditional community and global settings provides increased access for working students and those living in rural or isolated communities. This format also provides many opportunities for faculty and student research and scholarship.
These concepts will be explored as we share our experiences with unique students, diverse partnerships, passionate faculty, and an innovative constructivist philosophical base.
